Day 7 and 8 - Brighton to Barcelona - Villefrenche - 1/2 way - 120km

I apologize for the brevity of this two-day  entry or, if you have found the writing to be bloated,  then I am pleased to bring you this rationally sized entry.

Day 7

Today was a group day.  We rode alongside the picturesque Saone river on a quiet, dedicated bike path. This is riding bliss. A quick coffee en route followed by a complete show of force at a Riverside patio, and I confirm that my cycling appetite is in full bloom. I order a delightful Croquet Madam, followed by another. I dream of a third, but push on.

Once past the hills, we get to enjoy the trail wind for the rest of the ride and play in the wind.

The road into Villefrenche is urban, congested and dangerous. I take no chances, but still wind up skidding to a stop once or twice in  round-abouts to avoid being squished.  For protection, we ride in clots. Upon reaching the hotel, Roland and I walk across the road to an outdoor patio and cheer the arrival of each team member. Again we gather into full force, hooting and singing full voice to DJ Declan's Summer favourites.

Not one of us thinks to record this magic.

Day 8

Day off (even from writing by blogs.

  1. Jeepers Creepers. What a pace. Good idea to keep this blog to sort out your memories later. Just one of your days would require many days of rest to recover. Ride on! Charles
